Cardiff Yacht Club Yachting Section

Alana
  • CYC has a thriving sailing community, and the Bristol Channel provides a challenging sailing ground. There are plenty of opportunities for both the cruiser and racer to join in, regardless of class of boat. If you're lucky, skilful or just determined, you could be in line for one of the many cups and trophies the club possess. There is a competitive element, but the emphasis is on fun and having a good time.

  • For the more serious racer in 2009 we will be joining up with CBYC series, these offer competitive racing on Tuesdays evenings and Sunday's. For those of you who are not into this we will be running a series of informal races, jaunts round the bay over the summer. Finally we have our regatta on the 13 and 14th May, more info to follow.

  • During the summer on Wednesday evening's, we will be running a series of skills sessions with feedback in the bar.  In the lead up to this we will be in the club, with everything from flare demonstrations to poker nights going on. Please come and get involved.

  • The cruisers are a dedicated bunch, all prone to getting up at ridiculous hours in the morning to catch the tide, then disappearing into the night bound for who knows where. There are new marinas popping up all the time, providing a safe haven for all, no matter what type of keel configuration. Weekend sails to a different port have become a lot easier and a lot more relaxing, knowing your boat is safe at all times.
