CYC - Dinghy Section - New Members |
Who Are Cardiff Yacht Club? |
Cardiff Yacht Club is run by its members, for its members. We welcome new members, particularly active new members. The club is organised broadly into 4 sections:
|
| What Does The Dinghy Section Do? |
In the
dinghy section, we sail our boats in the Bay during organised sessions
on Sunday mornings throughout the year, and Wednesday evenings during
British Summer Time. Informally, we sail at any other time during the
week. Races take place during the organised sessions, for those who want
to take part. |
| What About Training? And Do I Need to Own a Boat? |
Through Cardiff University Sailing Club, members are also offered places on RYA training courses and the University Magno, Buzz and Firefly fleet can be seen regularly out on the bay. In addition, although most members have their own boats, we have four club dinghies for the section members to use - two Enterprises and two Toppers - and a fully equipped safety boat. |
What's the Membership Process? |
| Membership is by application. To join, you need to be proposed and seconded by existing members. No problem if you don’t know anybody yet, just come and join in a couple of our regular dinghy sailing sessions (let us know you’re coming) and we will propose and second you. After that, you will be invited to the next New Members meeting (which occur monthly) for a chat with committee members, then you’re in! |
What Are the Membership fees? |
There are additional fees for members that wish to keep their boats at the club. For a sailing dinghy, this is £50.00 + VAT per year. |
